We are Expecting!

In case you couldn't guess, what we are expecting is a child! Jes is 18 weeks along already and is feeling just fine. What is cute is that she is barely showing still. The doctor said she will probably just "pop out" some time around the 25th week. We already have names picked, but that will be our secret. We also do not want to find out the sex of the baby. We want that to be a surprise also. Our first ultrasound is a week from monday and we will get a videotape from it too. That is cool because we can watch the baby move whenever we want. I'll keep you updated on that too.

Back to the "Norm"

Now that Christmas and New Year's holidays are over it is sure difficult to get back into the normal groove of working.  We sure had a wonderful time with family and friends and were blessed with many gifts.  I got some more tools and clothes and a couple games for my playstation 2.  Most of our decorations are taken back down already too.  I hope ya'll had a great holiday time also!

Christmas tree

Last night we put up our christmas tree and the decorations are up thanks to my wife's hard work.  We had an adventure getting this tree, because the night we borrowed my dad's truck, it snowed like crazy, it was dark by the time we arrived, and there were almost no good trees in the large field.  We picked a tree out in the dark. If we hadn't had four-wheel-drive we would've gotten stuck in the snow. Our tree ended up mostly straight and amazingly did not drop many needles. We sure got lucky.

Band at Church

Yesterday evening at church the youth group performed as a band.  For the most part it went okay, but we did have some struggles.  It was a youth service and we tried our best, but circumstances made it difficult.  One was music.  I never realized quite how difficult it is to choose music in the right key that works for singers, guitarists, and piano.  We have a wonderful pianist at church and she picked out some songs that were great for piano and singing, but very difficult for guitar.  Second difficulty was that I ended up playing guitar-which I have never done in front of church before- along with a youth member who plays bass guitar very well.  I had to learn some new cords which was both fun and frustrating.  Our singers did alright too.  The one instrument we were lacking was a drummer.  Our church has a nice drumset, but no one plays it, at least not currently.   Overall I was stressed because I get extremely nervous in front of lots of people.  I am not normally the performing type.  Even so, I hope that our youth group can do this more often in the future.

Other than that, I am keeping busy, through the holidays with family, very busy at work trying to recover from the auditors and holidays, and working around the house.  We are currently working on our bathroom.  We decided to take down the wall paper and paint the walls, but taking the wall paper has taken awhile.  Hopefully we will soon be painting.  We have most the wallpaper down now and so we just need to spackle and sand the walls down; then we can paint.
